Primary carcinoma of the peritoneum is a rare type of disease and develops in the peritoneum. Peritoneum is the membrane that lines the abdominal cavity, fixes and covers all the organs in the abdominal cavity (e.g., intestine, liver and stomach). This membrane helps to protect the abdominal organs. It also provides a lubricating fluid that allows organs to rub together during person's movement painlessly. Surgery
Surgery is the first step in treating ovarian cancer.
